This ranking covers the electric and plug-in hybrid cars sold in the Philippines, scored for expressway driving. For an EV, the Expressway Score rests on safety equipment, comfort, toll class, cargo space and cruise control. If you drive NLEX or SLEX every day, choose a model with adaptive cruise control. If you drive past Clark or onto TPLEX, choose a plug-in hybrid or the longest-range EV, because chargers thin out north of Clark. An EV pays the same toll as a gasoline car of the same class, and each model's toll class is shown in the list.

What an EV changes on the road: coding, fees and tolls
The Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (RA 11697) lapsed into law on April 15, 2022. Its incentives run for eight years from its effectivity.

Yes. Electric cars are classified as Class 1 vehicles and can use all Philippine expressways including NLEX, SLEX, Skyway, TPLEX, CALAX, and CAVITEX. EVs use Autosweep or Easytrip RFID for cashless toll payments just like gasoline vehicles. The main consideration is ensuring sufficient battery range for your trip.
Are there charging stations on Philippine expressways?
Yes, mostly near Metro Manila. Our EV charging map counts public chargers within 12 km of each expressway, from DOE EVCS Locator and OpenChargeMap data (June 2026). Of the long expressways, SLEX and NLEX have the most DC fast chargers; TPLEX and SCTEX have the longest gaps between them. What is the cheapest electric car in the Philippines?
Each car above shows its starting price from our February 2026 catalogue, and its model page lists every variant. Dealer promos move EV prices often, so confirm the SRP with the dealer before you buy.
How much do you save on tolls with an electric car?
Nothing on tolls: an electric car pays the same toll as a gasoline car of the same class, usually Class 1. The saving is on fuel, and it depends on your electricity rate and the car's efficiency. Price the gasoline side of your trip with the fuel calculator, then compare it with your home electricity rate per kWh.
Are electric cars exempt from number coding in the Philippines?
Yes. RA 11697, the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, exempts EVs from MMDA number coding and similar LGU schemes (Sec. 25(a)(2)). Hybrids and plug-in hybrids count as EVs under the Act. The exemption runs for eight years from the Act's 2022 effectivity.
Do electric cars pay lower LTO registration fees?
Yes. RA 11697 Sec. 24(c) gives battery EVs 30% off the motor vehicle user's charge, registration and inspection fees, and hybrids 15%, for eight years from 2022.
