Batangas is a coastal province in the CALABARZON region, located south of Metro Manila and bordered by the South China Sea to the west and Tayabas Bay to the east. It is home to Batangas Port, one of the busiest passenger ports in the Philippines and the main gateway to Mindoro, Romblon, and the Visayas via ferry. The province is known for its dive sites in Anilao (considered the birthplace of Philippine scuba diving), Taal Volcano and Lake, and the coffee-producing town of Lipa. SLEX and STAR Tollway (Southern Tagalog Arterial Road) provide direct expressway access from Metro Manila, with the drive from Magallanes to Batangas City taking about 1.5–2 hours.
