Autosweep vs Easytrip

The Philippines has two expressway RFID systems: Autosweep (SMC Tollways) and Easytrip (MPTC). This guide compares both systems side-by-side — cost, coverage, reload methods, app features, and installation — to help you decide which RFID you need, or whether you need both for complete expressway access.

Which Expressways Use Which RFID?

The key difference is simple: SMC Tollways expressways use Autosweep, and MPTC expressways use Easytrip. There is currently no interoperability between the two systems — you cannot use Autosweep on an Easytrip expressway or vice versa. Here is the complete breakdown:

Autosweep: SLEXSouth Luzon Expressway — Magallanes to Calamba (49.6 km)
Autosweep: SkywaySkyway System — Stages 1 and 2 (Buendia to Alabang)
Autosweep: Skyway Stage 3Buendia to NLEX Balintawak (18.8 km)
Autosweep: STAR TollwaySouthern Tagalog Arterial Road — Calamba to Batangas (41.9 km)
Autosweep: NAIAXNAIA Expressway — Airport access road (12.6 km)
Autosweep: MCXMuntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (4 km)
Easytrip: NLEXNorth Luzon Expressway — Balintawak to Dau (84 km)
Easytrip: SCTEXSubic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (93.8 km)
Easytrip: TPLEXTarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (89.21 km)
Easytrip: CALAXCavite-Laguna Expressway (connecting CAVITEX to SLEX)
Easytrip: CAVITEXManila-Cavite Expressway — Manila to Kawit (14 km)
Easytrip: NLEX ConnectorNLEX to Port of Manila (7.7 km)
Easytrip: Harbor LinkNLEX to R-10/Manila Port (5.65 km)

Do I Need Both RFID?

It depends on where you drive. If you only travel on northern expressways (NLEX, SCTEX, TPLEX), you only need Easytrip. If you only travel on southern expressways (SLEX, Skyway, STAR Tollway), you only need Autosweep. However, if you travel on both networks — for example, taking Skyway Stage 3 from SLEX to NLEX — you will need BOTH RFID stickers. Most regular expressway users in Metro Manila install both Autosweep and Easytrip to have full coverage of all 13 expressways.

Northern routes onlyEasytrip only — covers NLEX, SCTEX, TPLEX, CAVITEX, CALAX
Southern routes onlyAutosweep only — covers SLEX, Skyway, STAR, NAIAX, MCX
Both directionsBoth RFID required — e.g., Skyway Stage 3 (Autosweep) connects to NLEX (Easytrip)
Airport trips (NAIAX)Autosweep required; also need Easytrip if coming from CAVITEX
Manila-Tagaytay (via CALAX)Both — Autosweep for SLEX then Easytrip for CALAX
Manila-BatangasAutosweep only — SLEX to STAR Tollway is all SMC

RFID Interoperability Status

As of 2026, Autosweep and Easytrip are NOT interoperable. The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) and Department of Transportation (DOTr) have been working on a unified toll collection system for several years, but full interoperability has not yet been achieved. The planned Single RFID System would allow one RFID tag to work on all expressways. Until that launches, motorists who use both SMC and MPTC expressways must maintain two separate RFID accounts with sufficient balances on each.

Cost Comparison: Getting Both RFID

Getting both RFID systems installed costs a total of ₱900: Autosweep (₱200 sticker + ₱200 load = ₱400) plus Easytrip (₱200 sticker + ₱300 load = ₱500). This is a one-time cost that gives you access to all 13 expressways in the Philippines. We recommend loading at least ₱500 on each RFID for comfortable travel without worrying about insufficient balance.

Autosweep Installation₱200 sticker fee + ₱200 minimum load = ₱400 total
Easytrip Installation₱200 sticker fee + ₱300 minimum load = ₱500 total
Combined Total₱900 for both RFID (one-time cost, full expressway access)
Recommended Load₱500-₱1,000 per RFID for regular expressway users

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Autosweep instead of Easytrip?
No, Autosweep and Easytrip are not interchangeable. Autosweep only works on SMC Tollways expressways (SLEX, Skyway, STAR, NAIAX, MCX), and Easytrip only works on MPTC expressways (NLEX, SCTEX, TPLEX, CALAX, CAVITEX). You need the correct RFID for the expressway you are traveling on.
Will Autosweep and Easytrip merge?
The Philippine government through the TRB and DOTr has been working toward a Single RFID System for all expressways. As of 2026, the two systems remain separate with no confirmed date for full integration. Until interoperability is achieved, you need both RFID stickers for complete expressway access.
Which RFID should I get first?
It depends on which expressways you use most. If you primarily travel on NLEX and northern expressways, get Easytrip first. If you use SLEX, Skyway, or southern expressways, get Autosweep first. If you travel on both, install both RFID systems at the same time — it takes about 20-30 minutes total.
Can I install both Autosweep and Easytrip on the same car?
Yes, many vehicles have both RFID stickers on the same windshield. They are placed in different positions and do not interfere with each other. Autosweep is typically installed on the upper center, while Easytrip is placed slightly to the side. Each has its own separate account and balance.
How much does it cost to get both RFID systems?
The total one-time cost for both systems is ₱900: Autosweep costs ₱400 (₱200 sticker + ₱200 minimum load) and Easytrip costs ₱500 (₱200 sticker + ₱300 minimum load). After installation, you only need to reload your balance as needed. We recommend starting with at least ₱500 per RFID.
I am driving from SLEX to NLEX via Skyway Stage 3. Which RFID do I need?
You need both. SLEX and Skyway Stage 3 use Autosweep (SMC Tollways), while NLEX uses Easytrip (MPTC). When you transition from Skyway Stage 3 to NLEX at Balintawak, the RFID system changes. Make sure both RFID accounts have sufficient balance before your trip.
Can I reload Autosweep and Easytrip through the same app?
Not through the official RFID apps — Autosweep and Easytrip each have their own separate app. However, you can reload both systems through third-party e-wallets like GCash and Maya, which support both Autosweep and Easytrip bill payments in a single app.
