About MCX

The Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX) is a compact but strategically crucial 4-kilometer expressway connector that bridges the SLEX corridor with the rapidly growing Daang Hari area spanning Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, and northern Cavite. Opened in 2015, MCX was developed to address the chronic congestion on Alabang-Zapote Road and Daang Hari Road, which had become bottlenecks as vast residential subdivisions sprouted across southern Metro Manila and northern Cavite. Despite its short length, MCX dramatically improves connectivity by providing a grade-separated, limited-access route between SLEX's Susana Heights area and Daang Hari Road. The expressway serves tens of thousands of daily commuters living in the massive residential developments of Dasmariñas, Bacoor, and Las Piñas who work in Makati, BGC, and Alabang. MCX features four lanes with modern safety standards and connects seamlessly with SLEX's Autosweep RFID system. The expressway's western terminus at Daang Hari Road provides access to multiple directions: north to Las Piñas and Alabang-Zapote Road, west to Bacoor and coastal Cavite, and south to Dasmariñas and interior Cavite. While modest in length, MCX exemplifies the importance of strategic expressway connectors in metropolitan road networks, as it eliminates the need to navigate congested surface streets, reduces travel time by 20-30 minutes during peak hours, and improves air quality by reducing idling time. The expressway operates 24/7 with regular patrols and CCTV monitoring despite having only two plazas.
