About Cavite
Cavite is a rapidly urbanizing province southwest of Metro Manila, forming part of the CALABARZON region. Its northern cities — Bacoor, Imus, and Dasmariñas — have become major residential areas for workers commuting to Manila and Makati. The province has deep historical significance as the birthplace of Philippine independence, with landmarks like the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit. Cavite is served by three expressways: CAVITEX connects Manila (Parañaque) directly to the coastal towns of Bacoor and Kawit, CALAX links SLEX to the inland municipalities of Silang and Carmona (with access to Tagaytay), and MCX provides a shortcut from SLEX to the Daang Hari corridor. With ongoing infrastructure projects, Cavite continues to be one of the fastest-growing provinces in the country.

Frequently Asked Questions
Three expressways serve Cavite: CAVITEX (Manila-Cavite Expressway from Parañaque to Kawit), CALAX (Cavite-Laguna Expressway connecting SLEX to Silang/Tagaytay), and MCX (Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway from SLEX Susana Heights to Daang Hari).
CAVITEX uses Easytrip, CALAX uses Easytrip, and MCX uses Autosweep. If you use all three, you need both RFID systems.
For Bacoor/Kawit: Take CAVITEX from Parañaque (Easytrip, ~20 minutes). For Silang/Tagaytay: Take SLEX to CALAX (Autosweep + Easytrip, ~1 hour). For Daang Hari: Take SLEX to MCX (Autosweep, ~30 minutes from Makati).
For a round trip from Manila to Bacoor/Kawit via CAVITEX, budget ₱150–₱250 for a sedan. CAVITEX is a short expressway (about 15 km). For Silang/Tagaytay via SLEX+CALAX, budget ₱300–₱500. Add toll fees on top: CAVITEX is approximately ₱100–₱150 each way, while SLEX+CALAX is ₱300–₱350 each way.
CAVITEX is heavily trafficked during weekday rush hours (7-9 AM and 5-8 PM) as thousands commute between Cavite and Manila. On weekends, traffic is lighter but picks up on Saturday mornings. For the best experience, travel before 7 AM or after 8 PM on weekdays. The Zapote area near the CAVITEX exit is a frequent congestion point.
CAVITEX is one of the most congested expressways during rush hour due to the massive residential population in Bacoor and Imus commuting to Manila. The Zapote interchange and the approach to Parañaque are the worst bottlenecks. During peak hours, a 20-minute drive can stretch to 45–60 minutes. Off-peak hours (10 AM–3 PM, after 9 PM) are generally smooth.
Buses and UV Express vans operate from Manila (PITX terminal in Parañaque, Lawton in Manila) to various Cavite destinations. UV Express vans to Bacoor, Imus, and Dasmariñas run frequently with fares of ₱50–₱100. Jeepneys operate within Cavite towns. P2P bus services connect some Cavite cities directly to Makati and BGC via expressway.
The Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit is where Philippine independence was declared in 1898 — free admission, open daily. Tagaytay (accessible via CALAX) offers scenic dining overlooking Taal Lake. Sky Ranch has rides and a Ferris wheel. For shopping, Evia Lifestyle Center in Daang Hari and SM Bacoor are popular. The Corregidor Island ferry departs from the Cavite coast.
Along CAVITEX, the Kawit exit area has fast food chains and local eateries. In Bacoor, Molino has a food strip with samgyupsal and Filipino restaurants. Imus is known for its longganisa (local sausage). For a food trip, head to Silang near the Tagaytay area for bulalo and kakanin. Dasmariñas has a thriving food scene around SM and Robinson's Place.
For CAVITEX emergencies, call the Easytrip hotline at (02) 3-500-3-500. For MCX (Autosweep), call (02) 8-888-1111. Cavite Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Office: (046) 431-0829. For breakdowns on CAVITEX, wait for a patrol vehicle or call the hotline — free towing is available within the expressway. Nearest hospitals include General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital in Trece Martires.
