About NAIAX

The NAIA Expressway (NAIAX) was developed to address the chronic traffic congestion around Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Philippines' primary international gateway handling 35+ million passengers annually. Opened in phases from 2016-2017, this 12.65-kilometer expressway provides grade-separated access to all four NAIA terminals, eliminating the need to navigate the notoriously congested surface streets of Andrews Avenue, Airport Road, and the NAIA Road system. NAIAX connects the Skyway/SLEX network to CAVITEX while providing direct exits for Terminals 1, 2, and 3 (Terminal 4 uses the Entertainment City exit). The expressway features four lanes with clear signage indicating which exit serves which terminal, crucial for time-sensitive airport access. NAIAX significantly improved the airport experience for passengers arriving via southern expressways, reducing travel time from Makati or Alabang to the terminals from 45-60 minutes to 15-20 minutes in normal conditions. The expressway also serves Entertainment City, the reclaimed area housing major integrated casino resorts including Solaire, City of Dreams, Okada Manila, and numerous hotels, convention centers, and entertainment venues. This connection made Entertainment City viable as a convention and tourism destination by providing reliable access from Manila's business districts. NAIAX features an 80 km/h speed limit with moderate curves and multiple closely-spaced exits requiring vigilant lane discipline. The expressway operates 24/7 to match NAIA's round-the-clock flight schedules, with regular patrols and comprehensive signage in English helping international visitors navigate to their terminals. NAIAX uses SMC's Autosweep RFID system and remains one of Metro Manila's most strategically important expressway segments despite its modest length.
