In short
BDO's own pre-qualification form states the rate shown is indicative only. The rate applied is the one in force when your loan is released.
Pre-approval tells you roughly how much you can borrow. It is not a guarantee, and it does not fix your price.

Check which banks' rules you meet
Loan length: 5 years.
Enter your age and monthly income to see which banks' rules you meet.
The banks' stated minimums. Banks also check your credit record and documents; meeting these rules is not an approval. Security Bank's income rule differs between its own pages, so this tool leaves it out.
What pre-approval and pre-qualification actually mean here
BDO calls its online tool a Pre-Qualification Form. Fill it in and it estimates how much you may borrow "in minutes".
BDO's own terms are direct about the limits. "This offer does not constitute a guarantee of approval," and the interest rate shown is indicative only.
Computations and loan terms may still change once your full application is evaluated.
RCBC uses the word pre-approval on its Nissan financing page, stating it strives to give pre-approval within 24 hours. Final approval is based on your documentation.
BPI names pre-approval for one segment only: overseas Filipinos applying through My Overseas Pinoy. They can submit initial income documents to get pre-approved, then add other paperwork like a Special Power of Attorney before signing.
Metrobank and Security Bank name neither a pre-qualification nor a pre-approval product; Metrobank's online application simply promises feedback within 24 hours once you submit documents.
| Lender | Product name | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| BDO | Auto Loan Pre-Qualification Form | Online estimate; explicitly not a guarantee |
| RCBC | Pre-approval (Nissan page) | Approval within 24 hours; final approval needs documentation |
| BPI | Pre-approval (My Overseas Pinoy only) | For OFWs, from initial income documents |
| Metrobank | None named | Online form gives feedback within 24 hours |
| EastWest | None named | A decision may be made within a day |
Does pre-approval lock in your interest rate?
No. BDO states this outright: the rate shown when you pre-qualify is indicative only. "Actual interest rate at the time of loan release will be applied".
Bank of Commerce uses almost the same language for its own quoted amounts. The applied rate is confirmed in your loan documents upon approval, not before.
That also means there is no stated pre-approval validity period at any bank in this guide. Treat a pre-approval number as a planning figure, not a locked price.
Expect the final rate and terms to be set when you submit your complete documents.
If a page or a salesperson tells you a pre-approval rate is locked for 30 or 60 days, no bank in this guide states that. Ask for it in writing before you rely on it.
How long approval actually takes, bank by bank
Every stated timeline here is under two banking days, not the 3 to 7 business days some generic guides quote. BDO promises loan approval within 24 hours.
RCBC calls its process 1-day fast approval, and separately promises pre-approval within 24 hours on its Nissan financing page. EastWest states a decision may be made within a day, subject to complete information and supporting documents.
Metrobank's online application gives feedback within 24 hours of submitting the required documents.
All four qualify that timeline on one condition: your application and documents have to be complete. An incomplete submission resets the clock everywhere.
- BDO
- Approval within 24 hours
- RCBC
- 1-day fast approval; pre-approval within 24 hours
- EastWest
- Decision may be made within a day
- Metrobank

When you need to have chosen your car
This differs by lender, and it matters for how you shop. Metrobank's online application form asks for the vehicle you plan to buy, including make, model, and selling price.
This happens at the point of application, not after approval. EastWest's own steps start the same way: choose a car to purchase, then fill out and submit the application form.
BDO's pre-qualification tool works the other way. It estimates how much you may borrow before you commit to a specific unit.
That is closer to what most searchers mean by pre-approval in the US sense, even though BDO does not use that word.
Run the numbers on the car loan calculator once you have a ballpark figure, and check the full document checklist before you submit.
- Check BDO's Pre-Qualification Form first if you have not chosen a car
It estimates a borrowing amount from your income, with no vehicle required yet.
- Have the make, model and price ready for Metrobank or EastWest
Both ask for vehicle details at the application step, not after.
- Submit a complete document set
Every fast timeline stated here (24 hours to 1 day) depends on a complete application.
- Wait for the confirmed rate at loan release
Treat any earlier number, including a pre-qualification estimate, as indicative only.
The income floor each bank checks before pre-approving you
Minimum income is the first filter before any timeline starts. BDO's own pre-qualification form rejects entries where total gross family income does not reach its minimum.
That minimum is stated elsewhere on the same page as PHP 50,000 per month. BPI's Passenger Car auto loan sets a minimum household income of PHP 30,000, ages 18 to 70 at loan maturity.
Metrobank states a minimum gross monthly family income of PHP 40,000. EastWest sets a gross monthly income floor of PHP 40,000 for individuals.
| Bank | Minimum monthly income | Age range |
|---|---|---|
| BDO | PHP 50,000 (gross family) | 21 to 70 at loan maturity |
| BPI | PHP 30,000 (household) | 18 to 70 at loan maturity |
| Metrobank | PHP 40,000 (household) | 18 minimum (product page) |
| EastWest | PHP 40,000 (individual, gross) | 21 to 70 at loan maturity |
