Does Tala finance a car or motorcycle?

No. Tala Financing Philippines Inc. is a real, SEC-licensed financing company (SEC Registration No. CS201710582, Certificate of Authority No. 1132), but nothing on tala.ph or its help centre names a car, motorcycle or vehicle product.

A full check of the site's page and post listings turns up nothing but personal cash loans. So does a help-centre search for car, vehicle, motorcycle and auto.

What Tala actually offers is a Regular Loan or an Installment Loan, both unsecured cash disbursed to your linked account. The credit limit grows toward ₱25,000 as you repay on time.

There is no "Tala Auto" product, and the app never ties a loan to a specific vehicle.

Tala requirements

Tala's requirements are short. You need an Android smartphone you own, not linked to another Tala account.

You also need one valid ID from a list that includes an SSS ID, UMID, passport, driver's license, or a PhilSys/National ID. You need a valid email address too.

Tala states it never asks for a down payment and never requires collateral or a bank account.

Approval decisions come in a few minutes for most applicants, based on a credit profile Tala builds from your app data and financial behaviour.

That behaviour includes income, payment history and use of digital services, plus your history with Tala itself. Funds typically arrive within one business day, or instantly depending on your chosen cash-out channel.

Tala interest rate and fees

Tala does not state a yearly interest rate. It charges fees instead, and the two loan types are priced differently.

A Regular Loan, repayable in 15 to 61 days at your chosen date, carries a one-time processing fee of 3.99% to 11.99% of the principal. It also carries a daily service fee of 0.21% to 0.43% a day.

An Installment Loan, for existing customers with good repayment history, runs 1 to 4 months. It carries a 0.14% processing fee and a 0.39% to 0.49% daily service fee per installment period.

Tala states its fees are personalized per customer. A late fee of 5% applies once.

It applies either on your total outstanding balance for a Regular Loan, or on the active installment amount for an Installment Loan. There is no early payment penalty if you clear the balance before the due date.

Is Tala legit?

Tala Financing Philippines Inc. is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission. It states an SEC Registration Number of CS201710582 and a Certificate of Authority numbered 1132 on its own site.

It also lists an OPS Registration Number, OPSCOR-2023-0010, for its role as a registered operator of a payment system.

None of this makes Tala a car lender; it confirms Tala as a licensed cash-loan app, which is what it has always been.

Tala's payment-related hotlines, +63 2 8845 9466 and the Globe and Smart toll-free numbers, are for payment concerns only, not loan applications.

Where to finance a car or motorcycle instead

Since Tala's ₱25,000 ceiling and 15-to-61-day terms cannot fund a vehicle purchase, a bank or a captive finance arm is the actual route. BPI and Security Bank both carry car loan rate tables.

The car loan calculator compares all 8 banks for your own down payment and term. On a ₱1,000,000 loan over 60 months, add-on rates at the 7 that quote one currently span 25.80% to 32.52%.

For a motorcycle rather than a car, Home Credit's partner-store installment plan and bank motorcycle products are closer fits than any app-based cash loan. See the motorcycle loan guide for a comparison.

Tala fees are personalized per customer and change between help-centre articles on tala.ph. Confirm the current figures in your own Tala app before assuming a rate.

Why "talaauto" and "tala car" searches exist at all

Tala built its brand on fast, collateral-free approval, the pitch a car buyer with thin paperwork often wants. That's likely why searches for "talaauto" and "tala car" keep showing up, even though no such product exists.

Tala's ₱25,000 ceiling and weeks-long terms fit an emergency expense, not a vehicle purchase that runs into hundreds of thousands of pesos over years.
