Overview
The 2026 Hyundai Stargazer is a boldly styled 7-seat MPV that has disrupted the Philippine market with its combination of futuristic design, advanced safety technology, and competitive pricing. The Hyundai Stargazer price Philippines ranges from ₱1,118,000 for the GL Plus IVT to ₱1,378,000 for the X Premium IVT, with the GLS X and X Premium variants featuring Hyundai SmartSense, a comprehensive ADAS suite that includes forward collision avoidance, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control, features rarely found in MPVs under ₱1.4M. Powered by a 1.5L Smartstream engine producing 115 hp and 144 Nm through Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), the Stargazer prioritizes smooth, refined cruising over outright power. Its class-leading 2,780mm wheelbase delivers the most stable highway ride among Philippine MPVs, while the innovative flat-floor 2nd-row design maximizes passenger comfort. The Stargazer competes directly with the Toyota Veloz, Honda BR-V, and Mitsubishi Xpander, positioning itself as the tech-forward choice for Filipino families who value safety and modern design.

Expressway Driving Review
The Hyundai Stargazer X with SmartSense is one of the most technologically advanced MPVs for Philippine expressway driving. Adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist work seamlessly on the long straight stretches of NLEX, SLEX, and TPLEX, automatically maintaining speed, distance, and lane position, a feature set that only the Honda BR-V VX can match in the MPV segment. The IVT transmission is noticeably smoother than conventional CVTs, providing a refined cruise at 80-100 km/h without the rubber-band effect common in competitors. Highway fuel efficiency averages 14-16 km/L, translating to approximately ₱4.00-4.50 per kilometer, slightly higher than the Veloz and Xpander due to the Stargazer's heavier 1,280 kg curb weight. The 2,780mm wheelbase, longest in the MPV class, provides exceptional high-speed stability, resisting lane-change wobble and crosswind sway better than shorter-wheelbase rivals. Forward collision avoidance automatically brakes when a potential collision is detected, providing a critical safety net on congested expressway sections near Balintawak and Alabang. NVH insulation is better than the Xpander, with road noise remaining controlled up to 100 km/h. As a Class 1 vehicle, toll from Balintawak to Dau costs ₱411. The 200L trunk with the 3rd row up remains the segment's common limitation.

Hyundai Stargazer FAQ
How much is the Hyundai Stargazer 2026 in the Philippines?
The Hyundai Stargazer 2026 starts at ₱1,118,000 for the GL Plus IVT and goes up to ₱1,378,000 for the X Premium IVT. SmartSense ADAS (adaptive cruise, lane keep, forward collision avoidance) is available from the GLS X variant at ₱1,298,000.
Is the Hyundai Stargazer good for expressway driving?
Yes, especially the GLS X and X Premium variants with Hyundai SmartSense. Adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist make NLEX, SLEX, and TPLEX driving significantly less tiring. The 2,780mm wheelbase provides excellent high-speed stability. The IVT is smooth at cruise speeds, and 6 airbags on GLS and above add family safety.
What is the monthly installment for Hyundai Stargazer?
For the base GL Plus IVT at ₱1,118,000 with 20% down payment (₱223,600), the financed amount is ₱894,400. At a 7% annual interest rate over 5 years (60 months), expect monthly payments of approximately ₱17,710. The X Premium IVT would be around ₱21,870/month under the same terms.
How many km/L does the Hyundai Stargazer get on NLEX/SLEX?
On NLEX or SLEX at a steady 80-100 km/h, the Hyundai Stargazer achieves 14-16 km/L. In city driving, expect 10-13 km/L. The IVT helps keep RPMs optimized for fuel efficiency during highway cruising, though the 1,280 kg weight makes it slightly thirstier than lighter rivals like the Veloz.
Hyundai Stargazer vs Toyota Veloz, which is better?
The Stargazer X offers more advanced ADAS, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist vs the Veloz V's pre-collision warning and lane departure alert only (no adaptive cruise). The Stargazer also has a longer wheelbase (2,780 vs 2,750mm) for better stability. The Veloz counters with better fuel efficiency (19 vs 16 km/L), Toyota's larger dealer network, and stronger resale value. For expressway tech, the Stargazer wins; for running costs and resale, the Veloz is better.
Does the Hyundai Stargazer have cruise control?
Yes. The GLS X and X Premium variants come with adaptive cruise control as part of Hyundai SmartSense, automatically adjusting speed to maintain a safe following distance. The GLS variant has conventional cruise control. The base GL Plus does not have any cruise control.
What are common problems with the Hyundai Stargazer?
Common issues reported by Philippine Stargazer owners include the IVT occasionally feeling hesitant during sudden acceleration, some interior trim creaking over rough roads, and the infotainment system taking a few seconds to boot up. The 1.5L Smartstream engine is reliable with standard maintenance at 5,000 km intervals. As a relatively new model, long-term reliability data is still limited.
Is the Hyundai Stargazer good for long drives?
The Stargazer GLS X and X Premium are excellent for long drives. SmartSense ADAS with adaptive cruise and lane keeping dramatically reduces driver fatigue on TPLEX and SLEX runs. The 2,780mm wheelbase provides the most stable ride in the MPV class. The flat-floor 2nd row keeps passengers comfortable. Just plan for the 200L trunk limitation by folding the 3rd row if traveling with fewer than 7 people.
How much is insurance for the Hyundai Stargazer?
Comprehensive car insurance for a 2026 Hyundai Stargazer typically costs ₱26,000-₱35,000 per year depending on the variant and provider. The GL Plus (₱1,118,000) averages around ₱27,000/year, while the X Premium (₱1,378,000) averages ₱34,000/year. Hyundai vehicles have competitive insurance rates in the Philippine market.
What toll class is the Hyundai Stargazer?
The Hyundai Stargazer is classified as a Class 1 vehicle on all Philippine expressways, paying the same rates as sedans and smaller vehicles. Balintawak to Dau on NLEX costs ₱411, and Alabang to Calamba on SLEX costs ₱189 for Class 1. Use our toll calculator to check the exact toll fee for your expressway route.
