NLEX Connector Traffic Conditions

The NLEX Connector is a 7.7 km expressway linking Skyway Stage 3/NLEX at Balintawak to the Port of Manila area via C-3/España.

Daytime traffic is generally light as the expressway primarily serves cargo trucks and port-bound vehicles. The España section sees moderate traffic during regular rush hours (7-9 AM, 5-8 PM) due to the university belt area.

Cargo traffic is heaviest late evening to early morning (10 PM - 5 AM) when trucks transport containers between NLEX warehouses and Manila port. The C-3/Port end section experiences the most congestion during these cargo peak hours.

The NLEX Connector is a specialized expressway serving two distinct purposes: cargo logistics to Manila ports and commuter traffic through the university belt.

The Balintawak end connects to both NLEX and Skyway Stage 3, providing seamless access from northern Luzon to the Port of Manila. The mid-section passes through the España Boulevard area — home to UST, FEU, and other universities — which generates its own commuter traffic pattern.

The C-3/Port end section is the cargo gateway. Trucks transport containers between NLEX-accessible warehouses in Bulacan/Pampanga and the Manila International Container Port. This creates a unique traffic pattern where the heaviest traffic occurs overnight (10 PM - 5 AM) rather than during typical daytime rush hours.
