The Raize is significantly better for expressways with its turbo engine, lighter weight, and better fuel economy at 20+ km/L highway. The Jimny lacks cruise control and ADAS, and its short wheelbase creates instability at speed. Choose the Jimny only if off-road capability is a priority over highway comfort.
Common owner complaints include excessive wind noise above 80 kph, the harsh ride quality on rough roads due to the rigid-axle suspension, limited cargo space at just 85 liters, and the outdated 4-speed automatic feeling sluggish. Some owners report the AC struggling in heavy Philippine heat due to the compact cabin.
The Jimny is not ideal for long TPLEX drives. The short wheelbase causes fatigue-inducing lateral movement at highway speeds, there is no cruise control to reduce effort, and the 85L trunk severely limits luggage capacity. The 45-liter fuel tank provides a range of roughly 540-630 km on expressway, which is sufficient but the cabin comfort is lacking for extended trips.
The Jimny has 210mm of ground clearance, which is excellent for its size and class. This easily handles Philippine flood conditions up to mid-tire level, all speed bumps, and rough toll plaza approaches on NLEX and SLEX without concern.
